Wedding Music – The Grand Entrance

GoodEntrance-300x200When your Master of Ceremonies announces the Wedding Party in for the Grand Entrance, whatever music is playing really sets the tone for your reception. We always recommend something upbeat & fun so your guests all cheer your bridesmaids & groomsmen on as they come in. We can customize the Introductions so a small clip of a song is played for each person or pair as they come in… like AC/DC’s “Tunderstruck” guitar intro, the chorus to Queen’s “We Will Rock You”, or the opening verse of Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up & Dance.” You can ask your Wedding Party members for their favorite songs and we can personalize it even more. Here are the Top Wedding Party Introduction Songs from last year, as chosen by thousands of couples from around the country.

Wednesday Wedding Wonders – The Best Man

spartanThere are many traditions in modern weddings that have been adopted & adapted from weddings dating back to early Greek & Roman times. Some of these are barbaric, to say the least. Let’s look at the “Best Man,” for example. In today’s wedding world, the Best Man is responsible for organizing the Bachelor Party, making sure the Groom is on time for the ceremony, holding the rings, and toasting the Bride & Groom at the reception. However, he used to have some slightly different responsibilities.

Long ago, if there were no available ladies in your village, a man would have to steal one away from her family in another village. The Groom would pick the “Best Man” – or strongest fighter – he knew to come along side him to help fight off the family of his new unsuspecting bride. This also explains why the Best Man always stands beside the groom… the wedding ceremony was the last opportunity the bride’s family had to steal her back, so the Best Man is standing by ready to fight. Fortunately, times have changed, so even if you’re not that handy with a sword, you can still be your buddy’s Best Man. Here are some other wedding traditions with interesting beginnings.

Valentines Day

Getty ImagesHopefully, you’ve realized that Valentines Day is this coming Sunday. If not – you’re welcome. 🙂

Aside from (or in addition to) dinner, flowers, & chocolates, here are 5 ways to celebrate Cupid’s Day that are slightly more unique. Our friends at TheKnot.com came up with this list for engaged couples, but I think it applies to married couples as well. It’s always a good idea to come up with new traditions and keep the Holidays fresh.

The Groom’s Cake

BroncosCakeLet’s face it – most wedding details are chosen by the bride. Grooms don’t typically care about what color the linens are,  which flowers are in the centerpieces, or the design of the wedding cake. But that doesn’t mean they should be forgotten. A great way to include – or even surprise – your new hubby is to have a Groom’s Cake for him. This cake can be designed to really reflect his personaity… His favorite hobby, sports team, job, etc. At some weddings we’ve been a part of, the bride will have the Groom’s Cake brought out right when they cut the traditional wedding cake as a surprise. Here are some great Groom’s Cake ideas from our friends at The Knot. (And GO BRONCOS!!!)

What Makes a Wedding DJ “Good”?

While planning your wedding, you have the (sometimes) daunting task of having to find vendors for one of the most important days of your life. A venue, photographer, caterer, wedding planner, flourist, DJ/band, officiant, etc. How do you know who to pick? This awesome blog post from our friend, coach, & mentor Mark Ferrell identifies the 3 things to look for in choosing a “good” wedding DJ. You know, like us. 🙂
